The S Files : Episode 59

Episode 59 of The S Files was recorded in front of a live audience at the Coral Cove Bar. On a glorious Queensland day The Tinman & Shabs joined the golfers at the 19th hole as they finished their rounds in the Easter Cup. We had Ferris sitting on the sidelines as we looked at a few issues in sport.

It might have been a nice day but as far as the NRL goes everything is not so good. It seems that no one knows what the obstruction rule is and yet again the North Queensland Cowboys are the team that gets dudded. Conspiracy or not, the NRL needs to get things sorted out very quickly or they will see numbers drop even more if people know they are not going to see the officials give a fair ruling.

We pause for a song from the talented Carl Wockner  and throw in a word or two for our sponsors. If you haven't been to Shop 85 in Bundaberg yet then do yourself a favour, and if you have seen the ad then you know why we are all for the StubbyStrip.

Rugby has some interesting points being raised up and it certainly could be good for the game. Just what news did the Shabs have that took the Tinman by surprise?

Football is getting to the pointy end of the season and the A-League has it's finals system under way. Sydney FC are out but will any team really challenge the Roar? Anything can happen in finals though which is why the Premiership holds so much prestige. Always respect a team that performs over a whole season, not just a few weeks.

As the English Premier League comes to a close Liverpool are getting closer to ending the long drought. A great win over Man City has the Tinman excited and nervous as the last few rounds close in. With Sunderland doing LFC a favour during the week with their draw against Man City the game against Norwich holds a lot of weight. When recording it is mentioned how the Tinman expects (hopes) Chelsea to drop points, little did he know that Sunderland would be the team again to help out after they knocked of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. If Liverpool can get at least 10 out of the last 12 points on offer the will win the Premiership. Not that we are counting or anything.

We close off with the awards and announce that the Soo Fail is being replaced with the StubbyStrip Award. This award will go to the person who has done something so great that they deserve a StubbyStrip. This is more than a man of the match performance, not only do you have to consider if they are worthy of a StubbyStrip, you have to consider if they are worthy to get your StubbyStrip.

The closing song is a little ditty dedicated not only for the Easter Weekend but for all the teams that get ripped off by poor decisions from officials.

The S Files : Episode 58

This episode of the S Files was recorded on 13 April but due to technical difficulties is only being posted now. We don't lose recordings anymore, we just get a bit slack in getting around to share them. The next one will appear a lot quicker.

The Tinman & Shabs really get stuck into where the NRL is going wrong with crowd numbers and it's ever increasing Sydney-centric approach to the game. This is a debate that will surely be raised again and again.

There was a slight distraction during the recording that you may notice.  Just what was the reason?

Rugby is in the spotlights as the Ripped-Off-Reds lose another close game with contentious calls. If you think that the NRL refs are bad then you have never watched a game of rugby.

Reluctantly Shabs lets the Tinman talk football but it is looking like he is slowly converting. Liverpool are on course for the title & the Brisbane Roar have only the Finals Campaign to win to cap off a memorable season.  Expect plenty of football talk in future episodes.

The awards always wrap it up and beside the Marto, Bryce & Sooo Fail Award we have introduced a new one in recognition of a new supporter that we will be promoting for quite some time. You have seen the ad and now it is time to nominate: Who would you StubbyStrip?  This episode it went to the Honey Badger.

Please help us grow by sharing, liking & tweeting your support for us. And if ever in Bundaberg you are always welcome to drop a line and join us for a recording.

The S Files : Episode 57

The S Files recorded at a new venue this week. We decided to try out The Spotted Dog Tavern and hope you enjoy the episode as much as we liked this venue. The Tinman & Shabs were joined by Guillio and covered the big issues for the week. Next visit to the Spotted Dog & we will need to secure the Corona Corner.

The NRL was hot topic to start proceedings and there are plenty of issues. We weighed in with our thoughts about the McKinnon tackle but also in how the media & ex-players are handling the fallout. Is the game being made so fast that we will see more injuries like this? Should it be taken back to 5 metres? The NRL really needs to think about where they are taking the game.

The Rugby is kicking along as it normally does, bias/incompetent referees, catering to the South African & New Zealand game and Australia just limps along and accepts it.

The Twenty20 Cricket World Cup is on and it wasn't hard to fire up more than the Australian Cricket Team. The selectors definitely got it wrong & it is no surprise that a few of the older players didn't perform. The first lost was appalling and it looked like a few players have gone for a swansong rather than to win.

The World Game of Football is getting to the pointy end of the season and as we recorded this Brisbane Roar showed that even with a controversial send off and only 10 men, they can make any team look ordinary. There is some good baneter between Guillio & The Tinman as we discuss the Premier League. Can LFC win the title & just how does Moyes hold his job. As long as he keeps it, supporters of all teams will be happy.

The awards always wrap it up and the Tinman really fires up here. He gives a serve to southern media who have hit some new lows and he really gets stuck in, even the Shabs was a little caught out.

The S Files : Episode 56

At our usual Sunday Session recording venue at Coral Cove Bar & Function Centre the Tinman & Shabs bring another edition with special guests Guillio & Ferris as we cover the issues for the week.

The world game starts things off as we are all enjoying Brisbane Roar sealing the Premiership with 3 rounds still to play. The Tinman is allowed to talk a little LFC and manages to get a good dig in at Man U at the same time.

The Twenty/20 World Cup is under way and what a great concept to have the minnows play first for spots before the main event gets under way. Hats off to Netherlands for a surprise win.

We even talked a little baseball this week with the Major League in Sydney.

There is plenty going on in NRL and it in't all good for the Queensland teams, the Broncos stuttered, the Cowboys have a 9's hangover and have not performed to the standard they should and the Titans really are showing that Cartwright must be the luckiest coach in the world to still have a job. Still backing on of the coaches from these teams to be sacked this year.

The NRL has also said that expansion & relocation are off the table in the same week we here crowd numbers are falling, ratings are dropping & clubs are struggling financially. When will they pull their heads out and realise that Sydney is the problem.

It is Ripped Off Reds in the Rugby as yet again there are dubious happenings by SANZAR. The Shabs fires up and the Tinman can't see the point of watching with the current standard of bias officials.

The awards always wrap it up as we finish off with a song from local Bundy band ET & the Alien.

The S Files : Episode 55

This episode was recorded on Sunday afternoon in the luxury of the Tinman's home after a hectic weekend.

Hopefully our relaxed nature brings a relax style.

We covered the Super Rugby, delved into the NRL, disassembled the cricket and for a change started with the round ball game that is Football.

We also give a report on how things are going with the Boston 13's after getting an update from Robin Peers after he was kind enough to answer a few questions posed last week from the Tinman.

We are also proud to say we featured music from Brisbane band ROKU & local Bundy band Phantom Fires who kindly gave us their CD's to feature some of their music.

The Tinman made a mess of the intro to Phantom Fires so we do apologies for his stuff up before you listen. Only a short write up this week but expect us to be back bigger & better next week with plenty of stories unfolding in the world of sport over the last 48 hours.

The S Files : Episode 54

The NRL is under way for 2014 & we recorded a great episode at Coral Cove Bar with the Shabs & Tinman & our Roma guest Guillio in an episode that had plenty of great moments.

Shabs ran the show & provided many highlights & with the cricket leading off the cast who knew what great moments were to come. The following video is a highlight, this was Faf at the media conference after the 3rd test.

After a short break, the Football (soccer) is demanding discussion. The Socceroos deserved coverage but the main talk was all about the "incident" in the Sydney Derby. We don't know the full story but until then listen to our opinion.

The mid song is by a great artist that we are always happy to promote after he helped the Bundaberg Sports Flood Appeal and with a new album coming out we are lucky enough to be able to feature one of the great songs on it. Make sure you check out Carl Wocker.

Please check out Carl Wockner on Facebook & Youtube.

Once we are back after a great re-enactment of the moment a random totally threw the Tinman mid thought we talk all that is Rugby. Who thought a random would be a bigger talking point than the Tinman winning on Keno.

To wrap things up we talk the NRL. Plenty of talking points and we look at the Broncos & Cowboys and the big issues so far. The shoulder charge is showing signs of what the Tinman predicted in his article last year, but yet again the commentary has got to learn to get back on the fence and stop taking sides.

Special mention to Madmartymackay who hopefully has a chuckle at his mention this week & we look forward to some input over the NRL 2014 season.

We always finish with the awards & all are deserving & we hold no apologies. Even Adam Goodes gest another well earned serve from the Shabs. Is the best way to overcome diversity to create more diversity?

The S Files: Episode 53

Normally the Tinman wears a shirt from a team he supports but it is hard to go past what Shop 85 provides

It is the Tinman & Shabs with episode 53 of the S-Files, recorded live at the Coral Cove Bar Bar. The Shabs came strolling in from the heat outside & the Tinman was still recovering from the intensive Indoor Rebound Beach Volleyball finals at Beach 365.

All being said we still managed to get things underway, even if the Tinman's shoulder was that sore he refused to drive into town to record this at a new venue. Normally we start with the cricket but the Shabs was still fired up after the Reds lost to the Waratards in another example of how a certain Sydney team is looked after. Trust us, they will struggle once they go offshore. The ARU can only help them so much.

All things in cricket are looking good after Australia dominated the first day of the 3rd test. Warner play a great innings & Clarke had the Tinman reminiscing about the 1995 Test at Sabina Park where Steve Waugh stood up to the Windies and although bruised & battered took away the aura the held. Clarke has shown he has the grit to be a great Australian Leader.

We are proud to advertise Shop 85 before our mid-cast song. This is the shop where the Tinman gets many of his great shirts. The mid-cast song is a reference to the great days of West Indian cricket with a song by the Models - Barbados

After the break we get into the world game & it is rather surprising that more time was not spent talking about how the Brisbane Roar re-asserted their spot at the top of the table with a commanding win over the Perth un-Glory. Even more surprising is how the Tinman refrained from spending too long about how Liverpool defeated Southhampton 3-0 and have gone to 2nd on the table. He could miss saying how stoked he was about Stoke beating Arsenal though.

The NRL season starts next weekend & is sure to dominate a lot of time on the pubcast. Plenty of controversy seems to be the norm now for the NRL and this year is no exception. We throw in our tips for round 1 too.

The awards wrap things up before a moment you have to listen too. Only the Tinman could find a way to dedicate Onion Skin by Boom Crash Opera to Michael Clarke.
