Dunaden By A Nosehair

Closer inspection needed to make sure it is not a tie.

Dunaden has claimed victory by the closest winning margin.  Thankfully this was my horse of choice along with Americain who just missed out on a placing in a photo finish.

Definitely happy that Dunaden has longer nose hairs.
Unfortunately I was not able to watch the race and had to listen to an online radio broadcast.  Seems not everywhere in the nation stops for this race.  We didn't need to be at work though as the town was dead and not a customer was seen from about an hour before and after the race, the main street in town was also more like a Sunday afternoon.

To be honest going into the straight I did not think Dunaden would get up for the win which is a great compliment for the jockey (Christoph Lemaire) who only got the ride due to the suspension of Craig Williams.  Maybe Williams will learn not to ride like an idiot leading into Melbourne Cup day.

Dunaden is now the third horse in the last three years to win the Geelong Cup / Melbourne Cup double.  I would like to tell you some more about Dunaden but that might give away some of my tipping strategies.  All I can say is the way Australian horses are being developed it might be long time before you see a really good Australian bred winner at this sort of distance.
